David Ben-Porat (aka DJ DBP) is a Chicago-based DJ, producer, and trombonist. After being a founding member of the legendary band “Sidewalk Chalk” for 10 years, he began producing music, primarily in the Soul, Pop and RnB genres, infusing his love of world beats in his compositions for various artists and advertisements. He has toured internationally and has been honored to back up the likes of Lupe Fiascso (featured on Conan O'Brien) Questlove, De La Soul, Cory Henry, Jazzanova, and has been produced by Robert “Sput” Searight (Kirk Franklin, Snoop Dogg, Snarky Puppy.)

After many years of touring and spontaneously DJ-ing between sets, DBP discovered his passion for weaving together multiple genres of music.  Whether it be pop, afrobeat, disco and house; or bailie funk, reggaeton, and 90’s/2000’s hip hop, he enjoys telling a story and captivating a crowd.  He was a resident DJ at Aloft Hotel’s “W XYZ Bar” on Magnificent Mile for 2 years, where he is accompanied by his showstopper dog Levy, and is known to whip out trombone solos, and feature other live musicians during his sets. He has also made appearances at Hotel Zachary, Beatnik (both venues), Bordel, Celeste, the Soho House, Happy Camper, and performed many private and corporate events throughout the country.
